Why to install a smoke detector ?

The smoke detector is used to alert you to potential starting of fire, inside your home.

To protect human lives and properties, the law requires that all the homes are equipped with at least one smoke detector, starting the 8th of March, 2015.

It must easily audible when asleep.

Where to install your smoke detector?

The basic protection est to install one detector on every floor, next to the sleeping areas.

The detector must be fixed on the ceiling, at the center of the room, otherwise at more than 20cm of any obstacle or more than 60cm of any angle.

Don’t install a smoke detector in the kitchen, bathroom or garage.

To replace it, you need :

• A pencil
• A drill
• A crosshead screwdriver

Steps to be followed :

• Remove the detector base by turning it counter-clockwise.
• Put the base on the wall and mark with the pencil the position of the two fixing holes
• Drill and set up pegs suited to the support.
• Mount the base with screws .
• Attach the battery and place it into the battery compartment .
• Remark : the appliance is equipped with a security system which prevents locking without a battery.
• Fix the detector on the base by turning it clockwise until it locks.

Control the correct functioning:

• Keep a reasonable distance from the detector, to protect your hearing from the strong alarm sound.
• Control the correct functioning by pushing, during 10 seconds, the test bottom, located on the cover.
• The light flashes, and the detector emits an alarm. Once you release the button, the alarm stops immediately.

Your smoke alarm is now fully operational.
