Sweeping pole and chimney brush

The sweeping is an essential operation for the maintenance of chimneys, stoves and boilers, eliminating deposits of soot, ash, and tar that accumulate in the flues. These residues can hinder smoke evacuation and, in some cases, cause fires. For effective cleaning, it is essential to use a flue cleaning rod and a sweeping brush suitable for the structure of the flue.

The flue cleaning rod is a flexible or rigid pole that allows the brush to be introduced into the flue to be cleaned. Modular, it is composed of several sections that screw together to achieve the desired length, which facilitates sweeping of flues of different heights. Depending on the type of flue, rods can be made of polypropylene for better flexibility or steel for greater robustness.

The sweeping brush, fixed to the end of the rod, ensures effective cleaning of the internal walls of the flue. It comes in various shapes and materials depending on the type of flue. A steel brush is ideal for masonry flues, as its abrasive action effectively removes stubborn deposits. In contrast, a nylon or PVC brush is recommended for stainless steel or lined flues, providing effective cleaning while preserving the integrity of the walls.

Before sweeping, it is essential to equip yourself with protective gear such as gloves, a mask, and safety goggles to avoid inhalation of dust. A sweeping should be carried out at least once a year, or even twice for installations operating on wood or coal, in accordance with current regulations. In case of doubt or for in-depth maintenance, it is advisable to call in a qualified professional.

Using an appropriate flue cleaning rod and sweeping brush helps maintain a high-performing and safe heating installation, ensuring optimal smoke evacuation and limiting fire risks.
