I. Presentation of the magnetic filter

The magnetic filter MG1 by RBM has been designed to efficiently extend the lifetime of your boiler.

Composed of a bidirectional magnet which pulls and holds all the impurities, and a cartridge inox (filter), this magnetic filter allows to fight against the corrosion.

If you can isolate the installation area of the MG1, follow the procedure below.

The magnetic filter RBM does not require a big maintenance. Find the magnetic filter MG1 on our website under the reference 110010.

Before proceeding with the installation of the MG1, there are 3 possible situations :

  • Your installation is new. You can install the MG1
  • You have an old installation (> 10 years) but you recently demisted your heating. You can install the MG1
  • Your installation is old (> 10 years) and you have never demisted your heating circuit. Before installing the MG1, we suggest to demist your heating circuit and to insert an anti-corrosion product. For more information, read our tip-sheet.

II. Maintenance of the magnetic filter MG1

To obtain a good efficacy, it is recommended to clean the MG1 1 month after its installation. Then, clean the filter one time per year. Before each manipulation, you need to wear a pair of strong gloves. You can cut yourself with some iron particles.

The maintenance of the magnetic filter is normally done at the same time of the one of the boiler.

  • Stop your boiler
  • Isolate the MG1 closing the ¼ turn valve of the MG1 and stopping the isolation of the heating return, if it is equipped with it. Wait for some hours to make the water cold.
  • Put a container under the MG1
  • Open the emptying cap
  • When the water finishes to flow out, put the cap again
  • Unscrew the cap of the magnet with the help of a key 6 pans 29 mm
  • Remove the kit cartridge inox, the magnet protection and the magnet
  • Separate the magnetic filter from the kit, then remove the magnet protection
  • Put the magnet out of the cleaning zone
  • Then clean the protection and the metallic filter with clean water
  • Replace the O-ring, if necessary
  • Once cleaned, put the protection on the magnet, then the cartridge inox on the kit protection + magnet
  • Put the kit in the MG1
  • Hold the kit tight
  • Restart the boiler
  • Check the water pressure in the circuit and adapt it following the instruction of the constructor
